How to effectively fight insomnia?

October 29, 2019

Our body needs sleep. It is for him no less important than the access to fresh air, drinking water, and food. Unfortunately, it turns out that even one in three Poles is currently struggling with the problem of insomnia. Of course, one sleepless night once in a while happens to all of us. However, if white nights appear over a longer period of time and start to appear regularly, you need to act. Insomnia is manageable, but it is not an easy task. It is also difficult to talk about methods that will work in all circumstances.

Get to know the causes of the problem

If the fight against insomnia is to be effective, we should first of all ask ourselves what contributes to its emergence. As long as we do not know and understand the root causes of the problem, it will not be possible to deal with it effectively. Moreover, there will be a growing risk that the decisions we make will endanger the body instead of helping it.

The causes of insomnia are divided into several groups. Most often we talk about those of internal and external origin. In the first case, we are dealing with neuroses and depressions, including those of a temporary nature. Internal causes are also identified with other diseases such as rheumatic diseases, diabetes, cancer and hyperthyroidism. On the other hand, the reasons of external origin are expressed in the way we sleep. Often our body functions properly, but we harm sleep hygiene ourselves, forgetting about proper preparation of the place where we spend our nights.

To the rescue - herbs

If you are looking for effective ways to fight insomnia, it is worthwhile to refer to herbal medicine. It helped us centuries ago, so it cannot be ruled out that it will support us today. In this case the extract from valerian and hops is particularly well suited. It allows you to calm your body, gently relaxes, and at the same time improves the quality of sleep. Scientists also draw attention to the fact that by taking herbal preparations we do not expose our body to rapid dependence on them. Unfortunately, this is not at all certain when we use synthetic drugs.

Synthetic drugs as a means of insomnia

If we trust synthetic drugs more than herbs, we will certainly not complain about their deficiency. The most popular group of drugs used to fight the lack of sleep is the one containing melatonin. Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland, but is administered as a synthetic drug to supplement the deficiencies. It allows you to regulate our biological clock, so the best results are achieved when problems with insomnia are related to shift work and relatively frequent time zone changes.

Home ways of insomnia

Even if the treatment of rams is not the best way to deal with insomnia, it is not at all said that other methods will prove to be equally disappointing. So it is worth remembering about the beneficial properties of the cherry juice drunk before bedtime and about the principle that dinner should be eaten up to two hours before bedtime.
